Add our dashboard to your home screen
Yesterday we released our new dashboard for academic members, and it has proven very popular. If you use an iPad or an iPhone, why not add it to your home screen, or nestle it in a folder of other work-related apps? We’ve created a special icon especially for mobile devices. Android users can also add the link – scroll to the bottom of the post for details:
Here’s how you add the dashboard to your home screen on iPhones and iPads.
Open the web page at http://www.leedsucu.org.uk/dashboard
Click on the icon at the bottom of the browser window (iPhone) or at the top (iPad).
You’ll then be offered the options:
Select ‘Add to home screen’ and our neat little icon will appear alongside the title ‘dashboard’. Click ‘add’ and the icon will settle on your home screen like any app. You then can place it where you want by holding it down until it jiggles and then shifting it. When you want to access the features of the dashboard, just click on this icon.
We’ve created a mobile version of the dashboard and iPhones, Blackberries, Palm and Android phones should default to it. Here’s a screenshot:
We received this useful comment from Ben, which we thought we’d add to the post itself:
Here’s how to do the same on an Android phone, for those who can’t afford or don’t like Apple kit:
* Use the browser to go to the dashboard, and bookmark it;
* Go to the home screen you want to add the dashboard to;
* Long-press in an empty space to bring up the “Add to Home Screen” menu;
* Select ‘Shortcuts’;
* Select ‘Bookmark’;
* Select your dashboard bookmark.
Leedsucu says: Ben has sent a comment on how to apply the link on Android phones. Rather than add the comment here, we’ve incorporated it into the post, above.
