No confidence in David Willetts

July 6, 2011

A motion of no confidence will be addressed and decided upon by the Senate of the University of Leeds this afternoon. Our VC has often told Senate how much he has sought to address HE issues at government level. UCU hopes that our University will demonstrate the kind of defence of HE presented by staff at Oxford and Cambridge, where similar motions passed by large majorities.

The motion, proposed by Danielle Lamb, and seconded by Mark Taylor-Batty, reads “The University of Leeds has no confidence in the policies of the Minister for Universities and Science. Senate urges the University Secretary and Council to convey this message to Government.”

Is this a motion on every single one of the Minister’s policies?

Yes. We’d be happy to discuss details of any of his policies you might be happy with.
