View from the Poppletonian – many a true word spoken…

As the University of Leeds Senate is meeting right now to discuss the £9k fee, as students protest outside and as the government continue to be oddly surprised that, having passed a law that allows Universities to charge £9, many of these institutions now have the temerity to charge £9k, we offer some light relief via the @timeshighered:

I think it’s absolutely obscene that Universities are now allowed to charge £9000 per year. I was part of the last year to be on the much lower fees. We paid £1200 for tuition in our final year (07/08) , which even then i felt was too high considering we had only 6 hours of contact time and lectures per week.

Is the quality and amount of tuition going to increase in proportion to the rise in fees? I think not! It’s bordering on criminal in my opinion
