Students peaceful protest today – University steps up security

November 17, 2010

The University of Leeds today responded with disproportionate levels of additional security as students protested the HE cuts by dancing in front of LUU wearing masks of Nick Clegg. Not only were security officers stationed at the protest, but key areas such as the Ziff building were covered – with security officers, both plain clothed and marked, stationed at both doors. The fear of occupations of the kind we have seen at Sussex and Manchester dictates these kinds of responses.

Last week, over six hundred students travelled to London from Leeds, and a coach for staff could not hold all the members of staff who turned up to join their students. The Leeds Student Newspaper reported on last week’s London march here.

Credit us with some intelligence. When we occupy, it won’t be in the middle of the day during a demonstration.
