Members are still coming forward to volunteer for picket duty. We now have over 100 such volunteers – which is amazing. Though we remain committed a negotiated settlement which would enable us to avoid strike action next week, this now depends entirely upon the willingness or otherwise of the University to come back into talks with us. We are doing everything we can to pursue this. Members will be aware that there is a scheduled EGM on March 16 at 1pm – and all are encouraged to attend that- if you are unable to do so please keep a keen eye on this blog and look out for emails from our President, Malcolm Povey.
In the meantime we must once again plan for pickets. We aim to cover all of the entrances to the University campus all morning, handing out leaflets and explaining why strike action became necessary. If you’re willing to join your colleagues on the picket line, and experience the solidarity of making a stand to defend jobs and education at Leeds, then please send your details to Steve Lax (send name, email address, mobile number & dept/service).
